Talgo has stated that it is aiming for ‘true manufacturing’ wanting to source components from within the United Kingdom. A key part of Talgo UK’s strategy is ‘knowledge transfer’ – building UK domestic capacity for Research and Development. An innovation centre is planned in Chesterfield and this will act as a focal point for Talgo UK’s Research and Development.
Together with Scottish Enterprise and Transport Scotland, Talgo has also signed a jointly agreed framework for the establishment of Longannet, Fife as a manufacturing base for Talgo UK. The company has said it intends not only to build for the UK market, but also to serve emerging overseas markets, boosting UK exports.
